About Us
Barry’s Cherries Hydroponic Produce has been supplying high quality Hydroponic produce to a diverse market in central Minnesota for over 20 years. Hospitals, school districts, food hubs, food Co-ops and consumers through on farm sales and delivery to a 70 miles radius from Staples Minnesota. Located just 2 miles south of Staples Minnesota with over 13000 sq ft of hightunnels that extend our growing season from May to November for a wide variety of fresh produce. We started as the plans for a fish farm designed in 1996 to raise baitfish. 13 manmade ponds were excavated beginning in 2001 with the plan to use hydroponics food production to deal with the excess nutrients fish add to ponds. A sustainable answer that would not further degrade the environment and overuse freshwater resources so important to the quality of life and the economy in central Minnesota. The aquaculture ponds on the property provide the water for the multiple season extending hightunnels that provide thousands of pounds of fresh produce monthly in multiple hydroponic systems. Designed to minimize water and nutrient use, our growing systems use about 10% of the water and just 2% of the nutrients required to grow the same plants in the ground
